Small Retreat

HAPPY BELATED MOTHER'S DAY TO YOU ALL!! Just a note, I have the most awesome mother and mother-in-laws!! I'm so grateful that a day is dedicated to this noble job. Face it -- Without mothers, none of us would be here. Who can argue that logic??!

Last week Whitney was involved with his annual "WACUBO" convention (Held in Salt Lake City this year, this is a convention for financial heads of colleges and universities). He was on the planning committee this year so his hotel was paid for. They held a very nice dinner to thank committee members on the Sat. evening preceeding the conference (spouses invited). I decided to take the three younger kids with me to SLC so that we could have a little fun. Sat. night my wonderful sister watched the kids so that I could attend the dinner with Whit then I returned to stay with her in Tooelle so that we could attend church the next day. After church and a yummy dinner at Kerri's, we joined Whit at the Grand America (the richest hotel in UT!). Boy did we feel like the Hillbillies!! My kids loved the rotating door at the front and had to play "Elf" by going around and around. The bell hops got a kick out of it. Whit had to attend meetings the whole time we stayed(1 night) so we hopped on Traxx (a railway transit) and went to tour Temple Square and the LDS Conference Center on Sunday evening. Monday we walked to the new SL County Library (AWESOME PLACE!!) then hopped Traxx again and went to the Gateway Center where we explored stores, fountains, and the Clark Planetarium (we got to see the 3-D Under the Sea Movie). We had so much fun but wore ourselves OUT!! I drove home that night as Weslie had testing at school and I had a PTA meeting I was heading the next morning. The kids slept the entire 2 hours home. We were grateful to find the house clean and well cared for in our absence by the older three who couldn't go because of work and other committments.
